Properties of Semi-Precious Stones

Throughout history, various cultures have associated crystal, stones and gems with physical, mental and emotional healing powers. Semi-Precious stones are believed to have properties that range from calming to vitalising – perfect when combined with a stunning bracelet or beautiful necklace.

Below are the supposed properties of semi-precious stones that feature in ‘Stones with Style’ Jewellery.

Agate:  A protective stone, increases analytical and problem-solving skills. Many ancient civilisations considered this a stone of protection and good fortune.

Amazonite:  Uplifting and aids creativity. Attracts money and success. Increases courage and determination .

Amethyst:  'The spiritual stone' - Said to quiet the mind and promote inner peace. Apparently beneficial for insomnia, nervous disorders and stress-related conditions. The Christian Crusaders attached it to their rosaries.

Aquamarine:  'Stone of Courage' - Soothes, calms, brings tranquillity and peace. Promotes clear logical thinking. Protects you on or around water. Allegedly its powers develop best if the stone is immersed in sun-drenched water. According to ancient traditions, carrying an aquamarine is supposed to guarantee a happy marriage and make its owner happy and rich!

Carnelian:  'Stone of physical energy' - Increases physical energy and personal power. A motivating stone, bringing joy, happiness and blessings. Apparently a good stone for people starting new projects or who feel they are going nowhere.

Citrine:  'Stone of prosperity' - Stimulates clarity in decision-making, communicative abilities and organisational skills. Citrine focuses the mind and brings a feeling of self-esteem. Citrine has warm energy, promotes optimism and attracts abundance. In ancient times it was carried as a protection against snake venom and evil thoughts.

Fluorite:

'Stone of discernment' - A variable coloured stone it straightens thoughts and enables the wearer to obtain a greater, accurate perspective. Named after the latin word ‘to flow', fluorite brings perceptiveness, peace and calm to a troubled mind.
